Established in 2006, Shannon ChildCare is an innovative and forward-thinking establishment, whom have grown from humble beginnings to a multi-site Child Care centre, based in Edgware, North London. Shannon ChildCare is based on the ethos of providing a nurturing, educational and loving nursery for babies, toddlers and young children in a ‘home from home’ environment.
Shannon ChildCare has achieved an outstanding Ofsted Grade that has positioned us as one of the most sort after nurseries for children to come too, within the North London region.
Our Carers are part of our family, they specialise in babies and toddlers. Our loving and caring approach enables our children to blossom. Our professional Carers are qualified in Childcare Level 2, Level 3 and Early Years Initial Teacher Training (EYITT). We have worked together as a team for many, many years and everyone who works with us is DBS checked. Our aim is to provide parents with complete peace of mind, that their children are thoroughly looked after in a safe, secure, clean and happy environment. The children are inspired, stimulated, nurtured and above all, loved. We ensure all our little friends are happy and settled as they enjoy busy, fun-filled days learning through play and exploring new, exciting topics.
“We ensure our children feel safe, secure and loved. With these 3 ingredients our children’s learning, here at Shannon ChildCare, is just incredible”

Keeping parents informed
We pride ourselves on our interaction with parents. We ensure that your child settles into Nursery slowly, so that they feel like it is their second home. During the first month we will be in constant contact to reinsure the continuity of care.
Twice a year we have Parent Meetings and provide detailed reports on your child’s learning and development, according to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines. Moreover, we share our ‘Next Steps’ with you to ensure we are working together as a team. Our parents love these Meetings as we share intimate knowledge of your child in picture and video format.
We provide other innovative ways of sharing your child’s time at Shannon ChildCare, all of which will delight you.
“The manager/provider is an inspirational leader. She is an excellent example to other staff and monitors their practice so that they constantly improve their already exemplary practice.”
“The quality of teaching and learning is of a high standard and enables
children to remain motivated”
About Alyson Shannon
Alyson has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of child development, which is the very backbone of Shannon ChildCare. In July 2011 she attained a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Early Years Childhood Studies and following this, in April 2012 she achieved Early Years Professional Status (EYPS). Alyson now works as a Link Tutor, Mentor and on The Advisory Board with Middlesex University, this keeps her well informed of all new childcare ideas and legislation.
Alyson constantly strives to ensure that Shannon ChildCare is ahead of other nurseries and childminders; Alyson personally embarks on home visits for perspective parents whose children are looking to join Shannon ChildCare. Alyson understands the struggles some parents face when entering childcare for the first time and puts their minds at ease.
In Alyson’s own words “My Carers have a ‘sweetness of soul’ and our little friends flourish with the positive, enabling environment we provide. I personally feel creating a ‘home from home’ atmosphere is the best setting for babies, toddlers & young children to develop. Providing security and tender loving care, enables our babies to develop and learn from a stable and nurturing environment.”
My team of Carers have been working together for many years now, some for over 7 years or more. I believe that it is important for them to up date their skills and to feel inspired. This gives us the cutting edge over our competitors.
We run free of charge Workshops for our parents in interesting subjects: Parenting Techniques, Fussy Eating, Tummy Time & Physical Development to name a few
“Staff work extremely hard to make learning activities fun”
